Sermon: July 31

Filed under: General Information — pastorsteve @ 8:44 pm

This week’s message will be entitled “One’s Disobedience. One’s Obedience.” Using Romans 5:12-21 along with Genesis 3:1-15, Psalm 1, and John 3:1-21, this sermon will shed light on the issues that Paul is explaining. Sin came into the world through one person, namely Adam. Sin’s cure came about because of the obedience of one person, namely Jesus Christ.

This text will prepare us for Holy Communion, which will be next Sunday, August 7.

Work Day - Saturday, August 13

Filed under: Church Council, Trustees — Rob @ 9:04 pm

First, I’d like to thank everyone who came out to help trim the bushes in the front yard. We had enough people to make the work much easier. We were able to complete it in about 1.5 hours. Thanks again.

Next, I’d like to let everyone know that the trustees and council have planned a work day for the morning of Saturday, August 13 at 9:00am. We definitely plan to be done and home by noon but if we get enough volunteers we hope to be done by 11am.
We have several projects that we plan to complete. If you are aware of something that requires attention please bring it to the attention of a trustee or council member.

Again, we ask that anyone who is able to come out and help us on Saturday, August 13 at 9:00am and we thank you for any help that you are able to offer.

Sunday, July 24

Filed under: General Information, Pastor Steve Tiffany, Worship — pastorsteve @ 4:10 pm

Over the past several weeks, we have been talking about faith. We are now moving into a topic which makes faith possible. Grace is one of the most overused and least understood phrases in the Church today! A word about grace would be to say that grace is the undeserved, free gift of God. By grace, we are saved through faith (Ephesians 2:8). God’s grace is offered to everyone….EVERYONE! Since he offers his grace to each of us, we ought to also be willing and ready to offer grace to one another, even when they do not deserve it. Grace, grace, God’s grace: grace that will pardon and cleanse within. Grace, grace, God’s grace: grace that is greater than all our sin! Amen!

Sunday, July 17

Filed under: General Information, Pastor Steve Tiffany — pastorsteve @ 9:57 am

Hello E.H. Bloggers

This Sunday’s Message is entitled, “As Good as Dead.” It is based on Romans 4:13-25 and makes reference to Genesis 17 as well as John 5:19-29.

Last week’s message from Romans 4:1-12 dealt with the faith of Abraham. “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” This week’s message extends that message, saying that we need to put our trust and our faith in the one who died for us, namely Jesus Christ. “Faith will be credited to us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.”

Christ was handed over to death for our sins and was raised so that we could be justified in the presence of God.

Church Yard Work

Filed under: General Information, Trustees — Rob @ 10:03 am

The trustees are planning to gather anyone who is willing and able to help at the church this Thursday evening (7/14/05) to trim the bushes and remove weeds and trash from around them.

The evergreen bushes in our front yard have become overgrown and need attention. We would love to hire a landscaper to care for our bushes but unfortunately our church cannot afford that. As a result, we - the members - need to take care of it ourselves. Several of the trustees and council members will be present (weather permitting) at 6pm on Thursday to take care of our church grounds. We would appreciate any support from the membership at large.

Pastor Steve’s First Service

Today, Pastor Steve led his first worship service at Electric Heights UMC. We’re sure he was at least a little bit nervous about preaching before many people who he had never even met before but he did a great job. Steve’s debut helped us to improve upon last year’s turnout for this holiday weekend and we hope that those of you that couldn’t make it due to holiday plans can come to be led in worship by Pastor Steve in the years to come.
