The Cheryl Nelis Scholarship aims to provide assistance to college bound students whose lives have been adversely affected by cancer.

I aplogize for taking so long but the June Newsletter is finally available on the communications page. I know that people are currently working on getting the July newsletter together and out. I will try to make sure that July’s is posted here as soon as possible.

Please join us for a lasagna dinner this Saturday, June 3 at Electric Heights fellowship hall. A dinner includes a salad, lasagna, dessert, and drink for $6.50.

We’ve been working hard to prepare a great dinner. We hope to see you there.

All proceeds will benefit the general fund. Additional donations are gladly accepted and greatly appreciated.

Please join us this Saturday, October 15 for our annual flea market. It’s a great place to come look for bargains while supporting our church. There is a plethora of items of all types for your perusing pleasure.

Each year we have a large and diverse section of Christmas related items. We also have books, toys, candles and candleholders, cooking utensils, tools, and many many more types of items.

This year, we also have hand crafted gift jars. These jars contain ingredients and instructions for one of four holiday treats: bean soup, rocky road brownies, cranberry corn bread, or hot chocolate. These make great holiday gifts for those people that seem to have everything.

Today, Pastor Steve led his first worship service at Electric Heights UMC. We’re sure he was at least a little bit nervous about preaching before many people who he had never even met before but he did a great job. Steve’s debut helped us to improve upon last year’s turnout for this holiday weekend and we hope that those of you that couldn’t make it due to holiday plans can come to be led in worship by Pastor Steve in the years to come.

This is a reminder that there will be a luncheon on June 5th after service. At this luncheon we will be celebrating the time that Pastor Rich has spent with us and offering our prayers for continued success in ministry. We will also be honoring this year’s high school graduates.

Pastor Rich will be staying at Miller next week for a lunch in his honor. On Sunday, June 19, Pastor Rich and Pastor Janet will be at Western PA Annual Conference. Shortly after that, Pastor Rich will be moving north to Harmony-Zelienople UMC.
All of this means that June 5th will be last time Pastor Rich will be preaching at Electric Heights UMC during this appointment here. Please come join us in wishing him a fond farewell.
