The forms necessary to apply for the Cheryl Nelis Scholarship have been added to the website and can be obtained by following this link.

The Cheryl Nelis Scholarship aims to provide assistance to college bound students whose lives have been adversely affected by cancer.

We had once again gotten behind in posting newsletters on the website. Last night I finally posted the August and September 2006 newsletters and this evening I added October and November. You can access the newsletters on the communications page where there is a link to the newsletter archives.

An enormous THANK YOU to all who donated notebooks, pens, pencils, etc. for our mission outreach to Uganda. We shipped an incredible 195 pounds of material to our friend Sarah, who will certainly put it to good use. Electric Heights truly is a special place that knows that the love of God reaches far beyond geographical boundaries.

Also, we were informed that the website address for the UMC Church in Nakuru (another church visited by Janet while she was in Africa) has changed from nakuruumc.org to umckenya.org. Reverend Josam in Nakuru has mentioned that several people have connected with him through our website. We are excited to be of help and pray that it continues.

The July Newsletter has been posted on the communications page. The pastors’ letters from the newsletter have also been posted on the Pastor’s Message page.

Some notable inclusions in the newsletter that are suggested reading:

• Information about the upcoming pictorial membership directory
• Information about the backyard bbq picnic (to be held this Saturday, July 15)
• 100 Days of Change Campaign - take home a jug to contribute change to our effort

I aplogize for taking so long but the June Newsletter is finally available on the communications page. I know that people are currently working on getting the July newsletter together and out. I will try to make sure that July’s is posted here as soon as possible.

I’d like to apologize. Occasionally, I get a bit backed up with things and I don’t get around to making standard updates to the Electric Heights web site. I finally made a bunch of changes that I’ve been meaning to make for quite some time:

• First of all, I switched our host provider to a reliable company (thanks Bluehost).
• The latest Electric Connections Newsletter is now available online and last month’s is available in the newsletter archives on the Communications page.
• The May Pastors’ messages have been posted.
• The meetings schedule has been updated.
• The most significant update: I added an online calendar of events to track meetings, birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, and more. The calendar is also available from the Communications page.

Hopefully, I/we can keep things up to date for the foreseeable future.

Along the lines of updating this website I found a new look for this news page. The old look was basically the default look and I thought it was more appropriate to come up with something a little bit different. I hope people will enjoy it. (I’m considering putting a cross and flame logo to the right side of the header graphic but we’ll see how that goes.)

I am currently working on updating the site with a possible redesign in the works. I apologize for the long delay in getting new information on the site. In the meantime you can read our February newsletter here.

Fall of 2005 has been a very busy time. If you gauge our activity by this website it might look like we’ve fallen away but I want to apologize for the lack of updates. There’s been a lot going on and I haven’t been able to put aside the time to work on maintaining the site.

This year, we are pleased to report that we beat our mark from last year for donations to Operation Christmas Child. We hope that each shoebox that was prepared brings a smile to the face of a child somewhere.

Please check back for updates and more information about things going on at Electric Heights this Christmas season. We will work on updating the site to provide as much information as possible.

Enjoy this months news and please join on September 11th for a luncheon after service that will include a Steeler tailgate party with the game playing in our fellowship hall.

REMINDER: as stated in the newsletter, there is a workday this Saturday, August 13 at 9am and there will be a potluck luncheon after service on Sunday.

Please check them out and don’t forget to join us this Sunday, July 3rd at our picnic lunch to welcome Pastor Steve and celebrate Independence Day.

Pastor Steve has mentioned that he would like to visit as many members as possible as soon as he arrives at Electric Heights. To that end he has asked for directions to our homes. We included a form in the last newsletter so that people could write down directions to their homes. Now we have also added a web/email based form so that those of you who would rather submit a typed version can do so through this site.

I updated the link on our ministry page to include a gallery of pictures from Janet’s mission trip to Uganda. There are a lot of fascinating pictures that are worth checking out.
